of Endless Mountains Pennsylvanians for Human Life Meeting
(a local chapter of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation)
March 12, 2009
Time: Came to order at 7:35PM by chairman, J Kershner.
R Lyle offered prayer.
Location: Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro.
Attendance: 7
Minutes: Of February 12, 2009 were approved as presented.
Matters of Business:
- Finances
The treasurer reported a current balance of $1,961.81 (unchanged).
- Endless Mountains Pregnancy Care Center (EMPCC)
Distributed a portion of their latest newsletter.
- Baby Bottle fund raisers
Nothing new.
- Harrisburg Office
Handed out latest "Chapter Focus" newsletter. This also had a petition to sign against the Freedom of Choice Act (F.O.C.A.)
- Literature tables at local fairs
The spring and summer fairs are the following dates:
- May 9 for New Covenant Yard Sale
- May 20-23, for Blossburg Coal Festival
- August 12-14, for Tioga County Fair.
Regarding materials for use at tables: J Kershner will order giveaway materials from our Harrisburg office, especially more recent “Life Lines” magazines. S Strange will order our typical giveaway materials from Heritage House: agreed to order about 20% more than last year.
Suggested and approved the purchase of plastic tote boxes [more durable than our present cardboard boxes] for transport to and storage at the fairs -- K Kershner will find & buy these.
- Other
Noted that the Elmira Gazette article about the March on Washington appeared to be quite biased toward the “pro-choice” position.
Encouraged people to be part of the “red envelope campaign” (to be mailed 3/31) to let President Obama know of the grassroots opposition to abortion in America.
A postcard effort to oppose F.O.C.A. is being sponsored by the Catholic churches.
Next meeting: Thursday, April 9, 2009, at 7:30PM (in conference room).
