MINUTES
of Endless Mountains Pennsylvanians for Human Life Meeting
(a local chapter of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation)
February 12, 2009

Time: Came to order at 7:34PM by chairman, J Kershner.
R Lyle offered prayer.
Location: Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro.
Attendance: 6
Minutes: Of January 8, 2009 were approved as presented.

Matters of Business:

  1. Finances
The treasurer reported a current balance of $1,936.81 (unchanged).
  2. Endless Mountains Pregnancy Care Center (EMPCC)
Note that EMPCC is having the Catholic churches in Tioga County participate in the baby bottle effort to raise funds for their pro-life work. This is in addition to and separate from our efforts to raise funds using baby bottles.
  3. Baby Bottle fund raisers
    (See above.)
  4. Harrisburg Office
Handed out latest “Chapter Focus” newsletter.
  5. Literature tables at local fairs
    Nothing new.
  6. March for Life: January 22, 2009 in Washington, D.C.
The bus sponsored by the area Catholic churches had to be canceled: less than 15 signed up, and a minimum of 25 was needed. Our funds given to this effort ($300) were returned.
An alternative effort was done on Jan 22 locally from 3-4PM, as 8-10 people held up pro-life signs in front of Holy Child RCC in Mansfield.
S Cavagnaro prodded the Elmira newspaper to have an article about the March.
  7. Other Pro-Life News
R Lyle read an article about sentiments against pr-abortion doctors.
Several pro-lifers submitted letters to the editor of the local newspaper against the “F.O.C.A.” legislation.
President Obama has enacted a setback to pro-life efforts by reversing the “Mexico City” policy

Next meeting: Thursday, Mar 12, 2009, at 7:30PM (in conference room).
Adjournment: At 8:07 PM.

Respectfully Submitted,

J Kershner, secretary pro tem
