Minutes: Of May 8, 2008 were approved as corrected.

Matters of Business:

  1. Finances
Our treasurer reported a current balance of $2,181.81.
Had expenses for materials; but also had income from baby bottle offerings, and from donations at fairs’ tables — see below for totals.
  2. Endless Mountains Pregnancy Care Center (EMPCC)
Passed out copies of their April–June newsletter. Note that our sister PPLF affiliate of Bradford County will have a table at the Troy Fair.
  3. Baby Bottle fund raisers
Crossroads Family Worship Center’s baby bottles have all come in: total of $202.70.
  4. Harrisburg Office
Handed out recent “Chapter Focus” newsletter, which included a sheet with “Guidelines for Political Activities of Right to Life Organization.” A question was raised about which non-profit type are we: 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4)? Will need to research this.
  5. Literature tables at local fairs
    Materials order
    1. From Heritage House, total of $377.41
    2. From Life Dynamics, total of $10.00.

    Past fairs
    1. May 10: Yard Sale: good attendance reported; donations totaled $7.25. Special prayer has been asked for woman who works at university.
    2. May 21–24: Coal Festival: OK attendance, better on Sat.; donations of $50.00.
At both fairs: new smaller fetal models were helpful; and the display of the the sign with PA abortion statistics & pacifiers caught attention and was read by many passers-by, obviously increasing people’s thoughtfulness on the issue.
M Strange requested permission to buy larger bolts to put together the booth for the above fairs: approved.
    3. Tioga County Fair, August 6–8 (Wed.–Fri.): will need volunteers to cover a total of 36 hours, 10AM to 10PM over three days. Shifts could possibly be broken up into six-hour, four-hour, or smaller, stints. We need to check our schedules and be ready to volunteer for certain shifts at July meeting. Be sure to include baby-changing table for use on those days.
  6. Other
Noted opposition to a New York councilman as he pointed out Planned Parenthood’s (PP) activities in the Elmira area. Also noted a local TV station’s favorable coverage of the director for PP of Corning, NY.

Next meeting: Thursday, July 10, 2008, at 7:30PM (in conference room).
Adjournment: At 8:30 PM.

Respectfully Submitted,

K Kershner, Secretary
