MINUTES
of Endless Mountains Pennsylvanians for Human Life Meeting
(a local chapter of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation)
March 8, 2007
Time: Came to order at 7:36PM by chairman, J Kershner.
R Lyle offered prayer.
Location: Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro.
Attendance: 7
Minutes: Of 2-8-07 were approved as corrected.
Matters of Business:
- Finances
Treasurer S Strange reported a balance of $3,293.70, with Bakerburg Community Church's recent contribution.
- Endless Mountains Pregnancy Care Center (EMPCC)
The chairman recently spoke with their director, Marcia Baldwin, who gave us a negative reply about EMPCC's ability to start a branch office in Mansfield. We were told about two web sites whereby additional information could be obtained about starting our own CareNet affiliate, if we are interested.
We discussed interest in doing this ourselves, if anyone of us could perhaps head this effort. Or, as an alternative, maybe we could assist the Canton office by transporting women from our area to their office; or even to the CPC in Elmira.
There is a man retired from Mansfield Univ. who might be able to find statistics about unwanted pregnancies with college students there.
- Baby Bottle fund raisers
Bakerburg Community Church completed their effort with a total contribution of $633.35. Kershners will write them a thank you note.
- Harrisburg Office
2/26/07 edition of "Chapter Focus" from their office was distributed to attendees.
The Stranges received information from their director advising us not to put our chapter's minutes on our web site. M Strange stated that our group would discuss this matter. We concluded that since our local population is largely not hostile to the pro life position, it should not be harmful to post these minutes. Therefore, we will continue doing so.
Passed out sample copies of by-laws sent from Harrisburg: perhaps at future meetings, as time allows, we can begin adapting these samples for our own set of by-laws.
- Other
Noted a newspaper article promoting efforts by the PPLF affiliate south of us in Lycoming County.
Noted a letter sent to our group promoting open adoption.
Next meeting we will begin planning the literature tables for at local fairs.
Next meeting: Thursday, April 12, 2007, at 7:30PM (in board room).
Adjournment: At 8:36PM.
Respectfully Submitted,
K Kershner, Secretary
