MINUTES
of Endless Mountains Pennsylvanians for Human Life Meeting
(a local chapter of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation)
March 9, 2006
Time: Came to order at 7:32PM by chairman, J Kershner.
Location: Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro
Number in Attendance: 6
Minutes: Of 2-9-06 were approved as presented.
Matters of Business:
- Finances
The treasurer reported a bank account balance of $1,670.95 [unchanged].
- Endless Mountains Pregnancy Care Center (EMPCC)
Handed out their latest newsletter. The Chairman was able to visit their [main] Canton office on 3/7 and spoke with two of the volunteers. They encouraged us to pray and work toward getting office space and the hard-to-get (in their experience) volunteers to cover hours for a possible branch in Mansfield. These volunteers would need to get several weeks training by the director or others.
(The Chairman also went by the Towanda office, but it was unexpectedly closed for two weeks.)
- Literature tables at local festivals
* Coal Festival in Blossburg, May 24-27
The Chairperson of festival, Kathy Pierce, told the chairman that there is no charge for information tables; but we’d need to provide our own table. She seemed positive, and told us that it is unnecessary for our table to be manned for 100% of the time. We will need to have our volunteers at our table to hand out literature for (most) of the following hours: Wed. through Fri. (5/24-26) from 6-11PM, and Sat. (5/27) from 11AM-9PM.
* New Covenant Academy Yard Sale, in Mansfield, May 13
K Kershner has our group approved again this year: will need to man table from 9AM-3PM.
* Tioga County Fair, in Whitneyville, August 9-11 (community days only)
Let us mark our calendars to volunteer at our table for this event.
- Baby Bottle fund raisers
Will be done at St Peter’s RCC, Wellsboro, after Easter. Noted again that most of the funds raised in this way through the churches could be used to support a local crisis pregnancy center.
- Advertising
Three avenues have been pursued:
1- R Lyle checked with WLIH radio: we may call each month and they’ll announce about our meetings for free -- N Cavagnaro will do the calling.
2- M Strange checked with the Wellsboro Gazette, which will run our announcement once a month for free.
3- K Kershner checked with Blue Ridge Cable TV’s channel 13: they will run it for free, but announcement must be submitted each month.
Next meeting: Thursday, April 13, 2006, at 7:30PM; note: in Room C
Adjournment: At 8:09PM.
Respectfully Submitted,
K Kershner, Secretary
