MINUTES
of Endless Mountains Pennsylvanians for Human Life Meeting
(a local chapter of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation)
January 12, 2006

Time: Came to order at 7:32PM by moderator pro tem, J Kershner.
Location: Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro
Number in Attendance: 8
Minutes: Of 12-8-05 were approved as presented.

Matters of Business:

  1. Finances
The treasurer reported a bank account balance of $1,670.95.
  2. Change time and day of meetings?
Discussed once again these possibilities: changing from 7:30PM to 7:00PM and/or from the second Thursday of the month to the second Monday. The hospital administration informed us that Mondays will not work because of a conflict of a group meeting [aerobics] that goes until after 7:30. Therefore, the consensus of those present was to keep the present time (7:30PM) and day (second Thursday of the month).
Notes about future monthly meetings: the April meeting (4/13) will meet in Room C; meetings in August will be canceled, because of the annual conflict with our presence at the Tioga County Fair (i.e., our group plans to meet only eleven times per year).
  3. Endless Mountains Pregnancy Care Center
Again gave out copies of their brochure. This group will in the future discuss with us about having a branch office in Mansfield -- sometime in mid-2006. Marsha Baldwin is the director of “EMPCC.”
  4. March for Life in Washington, D.C.
The Roman Catholic Churches of Tioga County are again sponsoring a bus: cost is $35/person & will depart from Holy Child, Mansfield. Plans are to leave on Sunday, stay overnight at a high school, go to march, and return Monday night (1/23).
  5. Literature tables at local festivals
R Lyle checked about the Fall Harvest Festival of Wellsboro: among others problems about denying us a table, the event has been canceled for 2006.
J Kershner will check into our attendance at the Blossburg Coal Festival (May).
  6. Baby Bottle fund raisers
C Lannak will try to get this going at St Peter’s RCC, Wellsboro, and will need: bottles, new labels (with new address for our chapter), and perhaps guidelines for conducting this type of fund raiser.
  7. Other pro-life group
It was brought to our attention that another local pro-life organization is operating, which might be a group that some in contact with us would prefer to affiliate: it is “PA Baptists for Life & Families.” If interested, contact Jan Martin of Little Marsh [phone: (570) 376-2584].
  8. Re: officers
R Lyle took the chair and we conducted elections:
    1) Joel Kershner was nominated and elected as chairman to replace M Branciforte.
    2) Katherine Kershner was nominated and elected as secretary to replace J Kershner.
  9. Bad weather cancellations
Anytime this is necessary, M Strange will post cancellations on the EMPfHL web site.

Next meeting: Thursday, February 9, 2006, at 7:30PM
Adjournment: At 8:35PM.

Respectfully Submitted,

K Kershner, Secretary
