MINUTES
of Endless Mountains Pennsylvanians for Human Life Meeting
(a local chapter of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation)
May 12, 2005
Time: Came to order at 7:35PM by Chairman M Branciforte.
Location: Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro
Number in Attendance: 9
Minutes: Of 4/14/05 were approved as presented.
Matters of Business:
- The Treasurer reported a balance of $489.14. However, at this meeting proceeds of an additional $803.95 were received from “baby bottle” fund raising at the Sabinsville area churches -- their total raised was over $1,500!
- Discussed where these funds are to be utilized, and decided to:
a) Look into buying a soft baby model set for use at fairs(cost: about $150);
b) Help with Real Alternatives in supplying a worker for The Guidance Center office in Mansfield. Motioned, seconded and approved that J Kershner is authorized to contact Real Alternatives to extend an offer from EMPfHL to them for support in the amount of $100/month for fiscal year 2005-06 in order to help pay a worker.
- Improvement with “ad slicks” from the National Right to Life: now have a quality computer file (in PageMaker) so we can run a newspaper ad when we decide to.
- M & S Strange sent out the latest newsletter. It emphasized the March on Washington, the October PPLF convention, and EMPfHL’s goals.
- Upcoming fairs & literature tables:
1- K Kershner reported on the table at the New Covenant Academy yard sale in Mansfield (5/7). Notes: 1. make sure have baby model set(s); should consider selling some small items to attract more passers-by; she had some good conversations with those who did come by.
2- Farm-City Day -- doesn’t appear to be scheduled this year.
3- Tioga County Fair (August 8-13) in Whitneyville. Will go with the 3-day (non-profit days) commitment, unless we can quickly get enough manpower for a 6-day commitment.
4- Harvest Festival (October) in Wellsboro.
- Discussed some pro-life literature.
- More was said about the October convention and the resource book: try to promote display ads and patron listings, so that our local chapter can get part of the money donated.
- Note that our chairman might be taking a position out of state. Therefore, if this happens the local chapter would need a replacement, plus a new mailing address for contacting EMPfHL.
Next meeting: Thursday, June 9 at 7:30PM
Adjournment: At 8:37PM.
Respectfully Submitted,
J Kershner, Secretary
