MINUTES of Endless Mountains Pennsylvanians for Human Life Meeting
(a local chapter of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation)
June 9, 2005
Time: Came to order at 7:35PM by Chairman M Branciforte.
Location: Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro
Number in Attendance: 6
Minutes: Of 5/12/05 were approved as presented.
Matters of Business:
- The Treasurer reported a balance of $1,445.95. However, at this meeting additional proceeds were received, including $62.50 from the Maneval girls from a March for Life walk-a-thon.
- Regarding funding:
a) The soft baby model set, from Heritage House, will cost $179.95; decided to purchase this set.
b) J Kershner spoke to L Grieneisen (on 5/26) of Real Alternatives about our offer to help them financially in supplying a worker for The Guidance Center office in Mansfield. She said the money would be helpful and the offer could aid the case for again fielding a worker. However, the group is not to the point of decision; they will contact us when they know more.
c) R Lyle suggested getting other pro-life items for us to sell. The Laboskys will bring in a catalog for us to see.
- Upcoming fairs & literature tables:
1- Tioga County Fair (August 8-13) in Whitneyville. We haven’t received the registration form yet, but it should come soon.
2- Harvest Festival (October) in Wellsboro. Exact date not known yet.
- The Chairman has flyers for the PPLF’s fall conference that we can use to advertise it.
- The Brancifortes are going through some final stages for their application to take positions out of state.
- The Laboskys brought up about our chapter & its churches being involved in the future with “The Gabriel Project.” This project seeks to erect signs (on the property of churches) that let the community know about the churches’ concern about women in crisis pregnancies and their babies. A hot line number is listed on these signs for an area pregnancy resource center to help any passersby.
- Talked about how to get more people involved: perhaps running an ad. The Chairman suggested that pastors exhort other pastors to get involved and/or challenge more in their congregations. R Lyle said he would use his pastor’s corner article to plug our cause.
Next meeting: Thursday, July 14 at 7:30PM
Adjournment: At 8:34PM.
Respectfully Submitted,
K Kershner, Secretary pro tem
