MINUTES
of Endless Mountains Pennsylvanians for Human Life Meeting
(a local chapter of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation)
February 10, 2005
Time: Came to order at 7:38PM by Chairman M Branciforte.
Location: Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro
Number in Attendance: 4
Minutes: Of 1/13/05 were approved as presented.
Matters of Business:
- The Treasurer reported a balance of $172.55.
- Regarding the Guidance Center: Tina Thomas phoned J Kershner and informed us that the state government’s funding for Real Alternatives has run out. Only at the beginning of the new fiscal year might they have new funding, and then they could again consider hiring a part-time staff person for Tioga County.
- “Baby bottle” fund raising project: the Sabinsville churches are in process. Trinity Lutheran Church (Wellsboro) agreed to begin.
- The March for Life in Washington, DC, Monday, January 24: S Maneval reported on her family’s participation. The march went well, with many young people in attendance -- this is encouraging for the future of the pro-life movement. J Maneval has photos and wrote an article for our next newsletter.
- Viewed “ad slicks” from the National Right to Life group. These can potentially be used for future local advertising to promote our local organization. We selected and will buy three of these ads for a cost of $10-15.
- The PPLF office in Harrisburg is promoting an Education Convention for October 1-2, 2005, in Valley Forge, PA. Various speakers and topics were noted.
Also, fund-raising for both the state and local groups can be achieved by getting sponsors (business and individual) for the convention’s glossy program. Various size spaces are possible: 1/16 page for $75 to full page for $300. The amount of the local chapter’s percentage of income for the sponsorships would vary by when the ad is placed: 35% if by May, 25% if by June, and 10% if by July. These sponsorships will be promoted in the next newsletter.
Next meeting: Thursday, March 10 at 7:30PM
Adjournment: At 8:37PM.
Respectfully Submitted,
J Kershner, Secretary
