of Endless Mountains Pennsylvanians for Human Life Meeting
(a local chapter of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation)
February 9, 2004

Time: Came to order at 7:35PM by Chairman Mario Branciforte.

Location: Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro
Number in Attendance: 9

Minutes: Of 1/12/03 were approved as presented.

Matters of Business:

  1. L Neuhauser of the Harrisburg office has provided their database list of people from our area. There are over 190 contacts on this list, most of which are not on our present mailing list.
  2. Chairman Branciforte attended a northeastern PA regional meeting on 2/7 in Scranton. He learned at this meeting: there are 10 other local chapters in northeastern PA -- one of these, Pocono, has a website; the newsletters for each of these local chapters will be sent to the others; there is an assessment for the regional group, ranging from $75 to 500 per chapter, as per their memberships.
  3. Update regarding Project Rapport / Real Alternatives: L. Grieneisan is placing ads in local newspapers for the part-time position sought for our area.
  4. Discussed a fund-raising idea that has been very successful in the Scranton area: baby bottles placed at churches and businesses for individuals to fill with loose change.
  5. There is a desire to do something for the PA primary election race between Sen. Arlen Specter and his pro-life challenger Pat Toomey. We could use our next newsletter to make people aware of this, and perhaps place an ad in local reader ad newspapers. If so, we need to learn from the Harrisburg office what is legal and effective.
  6. We need to contact S Maneval about the local distribution of pro-life voter guides.
  7. Treasurer’s report: about $70 in our account. Note that gifts for our local chapter are not tax deductible.
