MINUTES
of Endless Mountains Pennsylvanians for Human Life Meeting
(a local chapter of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation)
August 11, 2003

Time: Called to order at 7:40PM by Chairman Mario Branciforte. Joel Kershner agreed to serve as tonight’s secretary.

Location: Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro

Number in Attendance: 10

Minutes: Of 7/14/03 were not available.

Matters of Business:

  1. Impressions were stated from those who manned the PPLF booth at the Tioga County Fair on 8/6, 7 & 8. Especially noted: fetal baby models very popular; baby changing table well-used; but the videos not viewed much. Most comments from passers-by were very positive. A “highlight” was that U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter and his entourage visited the table on Friday.
    A thank you card should be sent to Dale Dunmore, Assistant Secretary of the the Fair, who was very helpful to our group.
  2. Luann Grieneisen spoke about her group: Real Alternatives / Project Rapport, based in Ridgway, PA, which services our area. This group is a private agency that services the PA State Dept. of Welfare, and specializes in servicing rural populations. It does not promote/refer/perform abortions, and counsels pregnant & parenting young women/men.
    To begin work in our area she only needs a corner of an office to base services in Tioga County: she’d like us to check on and make 3-4 possible locations available for this base. From such a location she can go out to high schools, homes, Mansfield University, or public locations to meet with young people in need.
    She then fielded questions.
  3. We were reminded by Judy Tarbox of the upcoming Life Chains to be held 10/5 (first Sunday in October) and the need to promote them better.
  4. Other possible future events: our group is not welcomed at the 1890’s Days in Mansfield, since they don’t want groups of a political/controversial nature.
    We are getting information about the fall Harvest Celebration in Wellsboro.
  5. Miscellaneous matters
    We will need to renew our use of the hospital’s room after October.
    Treasurer Susan Strange noted that our PPLF chapter’s official name for our bank account is: “Endless Mountains Pennsylvanians for Human Life.”
    We plan to make computer-generated labels for use on materials, etc.
